Can what you eat make you age?

I researched modifiable aging processes for you. Perhaps not all of us can afford the technologies to invest in ourselves, but I believe we can all change our destiny by being careful about what we eat and drink. I prepared a nice compilation of publications for you.

Eating sugar initiates a process called glycation on collagen fibers which cross-link among themselves. At the end of this process, products known as AGEs are formed, which are referred to as Advanced Glycation End Products that damage the tissue. This causes an increase in free radicals around collagen. Thus, the aging process of the skin is accelerated.

Grilling, frying, deep frying, or baking methods result in significantly more increase in products referred to as AGE, compared to methods of cooking in water.

When people on a gluten-free diet are compared with people who have a diet rich in bakery products, it was observed that skin health was preserved, and the aging process was improved.

A healthy diet consists of low glycemic index foods, without refined carbohydrates, processed foods, but rich in vegetables, protein cooked without fat, helps to keep the blood sugar level stable and It has been demonstrated to have minimal negative effects on the aging process.

Another research has demonstrated that, with the analysis of the individual’s antioxidant structure, this can be analyzed in detail, often with genetic tests, and a diet rich in antioxidants can increase the preservation of the skin and create strengthening in the aging process.

In one study, skin wrinkles on areas exposed to the sun were examined in older people. People of different ethnic origins were examined, and as a result of the analysis, the rate of wrinkles was found to be lower in people who consumed vegetables, olive oil, legumes, consumed low milk and dairy products, and used less oil and margarine.

In another study conducted in the United States on 4025 women revealed that, participants who had more vitamin C and linoleic acid in their diet and received these from fruits, vegetables and nuts had significantly lower statistics in the signs of aging, such as skin wrinkles and skin thinness. On the other hand, these rates were found to be higher in those who had a diet rich in fat and carbohydrates.

I found many statistics on countries and people's life expectancy. Sardinia is the place where men live the longest and healthiest place in the world. Almost no cardiovascular problems were encountered. I think it is a very good example for the positive role of the Mediterranean diet plays in aging.

Also, in a 2019 comparison of different countries on average life expectancy, the average life expectancy in Monaco was found to be the highest at 89.2. I think they are a population who are financially strong and attain the best of everything. In addition to the Mediterranean diet, the consumption of wines with the best antioxidant content can also play an important role.

In summary, the most important factors that determine the quality of our aging process and the appearance we will have over the years seem to be the glasses with resveratrol, which can be consumed with friends at tables with plenty of vegetables and fruits. What do you think?
